Thank you for your interest in the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation Scholarship. The Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation is committed to promoting equality and diversity in the legal profession in San Diego County. Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation has dedicated resources to the assistance, motivation and encouragement of law students in an effort to increase the number of new legal minds in this county. Pursuant to our goals and purpose, the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation provides several scholarships to celebrate and commend the academic excellence and community service effort put forward by students in our community. To view a list of our current scholarships please click here.

Application2018 EBGBF Scholarship Application

Deadline: September 30th, 2018 11:59pm

Criteria: Scholarship recipients are expected to make their best efforts to practice law in San Diego upon passage of the bar exam.

Supporting Documentation (all material should be submitted in 1 pdf):

– PERSONAL STATEMENT: In 1000 words or less, please explain why you should be awarded a EBGBF scholarship, how this award would impact your personal or professional aspirations, and your involvement with the African American community. You may include information regarding your background, reasons for pursuing further education, challenges you face outside of school, and any other information you would like to have considered by the scholarship selection committee. The personal statement should be double-spaced.

– RESUME

– LAW SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT (Unofficial permitted)

– PROOF OF ENROLLMENT

Additional Documentation (not reviewed by selection committee):

– 1 Professional Photo

 – A short biography of no more than 300 words (referring to self using first name).

February California Bar Exam Applicants Only: Only law students graduating in December 2018 and who have a good faith intention to practice in San Diego County may apply. As a condition of receiving a bar scholarship through Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation you agree to report your bar results to the Foundation upon request.
