California Bar Foundation 3L Diversity Scholarship Recipient

The Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation annually co-sponsors the 3L Diversity Scholarship with the California Bar Foundation. The 3L Diversity Scholarship is a $5,000 award that assists graduating law students in their preparation for the California Bar Exam and furthers our mission to increase diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.

We are proud to announce the recipient of the 2018 3L Diversity Scholarship is Evangeline Dech of California Western School of Law! Upon learning the news, Ms. Dech sent the following:

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by such an amazing organization. There is no way to thank you enough for both this scholarship, and also for your commitment to diversifying the legal community.

Soon to be the first lawyer in my family, I plan to one day pay it forward and give back to aspiring African-American law students. Your generosity has definitely inspired me to elevate students and help them achieve their goals just as you have helped me. Because of this scholarship, my plan became a whole lot easier. I no longer have to be stressed about finances during the bar or have to take out private loans. I can now divert all my attention to studying, taking, and passing the bar for the next few months.

Your generosity eases my path towards becoming an immigration attorney and to giving back to my community. Thank you for everything!”
